COVID-19 Mitigation and Air Filtration
Post Coronavirus Life
The novel Coronavirus will remain a threat until a vaccine is developed. As many businesses and essential facilities remain open or look forward to opening soon after a lengthy lockdown, we know now that normal life as we know it will not be the same. Additional sanitation efforts, and some level of distancing measures are here to stay. We are here to help our customers with these additional safety measures that will be crucial to maintaining a safe business environment and the safety of their customers. One of the key measures many business owners and facilities managers are considering is air purifiers.
Recently, Mann has worked with dental offices across the GTA to help them reopen their businesses in accordance with the guidelines set forth by their governing body, the RCDSO. Mann performed air changes per hour (ACH) audits to look for opportunities to increase their ACH by implementing air purifiers and other methods in order to increase the number of patients the offices can see per day.
But How Can Air Purifiers Help?
Like other viruses, the novel coronavirus responsible for COVID-19 is very small around 0.1 microns. The virus is transmitted through droplets, or little bits of liquid, mostly through sneezing or coughing, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, head of WHO’s emerging diseases and zoonosis unit, told reporters during a virtual news conference. “When you do an aerosol-generating procedure like in a medical care facility, you have the possibility to what we call aerosolize these particles, which means they can stay in the air a little bit longer.”
The way to effectively remove these small particles from the airstream is to use high efficiency particulate absorbing (HEPA) filters with continuous air circulating within the closed space. In a typical HVAC system, 2” pleated filters are commonly used which cannot filter out small particles and microbes especially virus size microbes that are smaller than 0.1 microns.
We have partnered with a reputable air filter manufacturer who successfully supported hospitals in fighting COVID-19 with their special clean room medical grade air purifiers equipped with H13 class air filters (see the photo below marked by the red dots). Microbes removal efficiency is 99.53% with 100m2 room coverage. This is a perfect application for apartment lobby, doctor office, hospital registration, intensive patient care, gyms, restaurants, retail and other similar areas.
How We Can Help?
Mann Engineering can perform a complementary walkthrough of your facility to recommend COVID-19 mitigation strategies. We can also perform an ACH audit and certification to give your customers confidence that you are doing everything you can to keep them safe.
The air cleaning units are available within 1-3 weeks once the order is placed. You may submit your request online by clicking here, and we will respond within 12 hours.
If you’d like further information or a demonstration of this unit, we’d be pleased to schedule an agreeable time to discuss either virtually (Zoom, MS Teams, etc.) or as part of the more formal presentation once social distancing directives have been lifted.
